Butter Me Up

IMG_2406

Introducing my new friend the butternut squash. A stunning vegetable that I have been admiring as one has appeared lately in my fruit bowl.

It has fascinated me for several days with its exquisite curves and woodlike shell. The only sane thing to do was make art of it. It is art in itself but I wanted to be a part of it and now I am.

Inspired also by Woody Allen’s affection for Cezanne’s Apples and Pears as stated in his Masterpiece Manhattan.

I am chuffed to pieces to have my artwork included in this awesome project Onward  at The Outsider Art Fair  in New York happening this weekend. Here is a photo my my work in its unfinished state.

Any one in New York this weekend I recommend a visit to the fair. I wish I was able to visit but I am there with the spirit of New York which is a huge source of inspiration to me.

Pencil Study- Human Foot

IMG_2097

A remarkable thing is the human foot. Also quite exquisite naked of its flesh. I have a fascination with feet. One theory explains such a fascination with having spent a large amount of time in infancy being at foot level with our caregivers. At such a vantage point they become mythical and unfathomable in their importance. Inscrutable and bewitching.
