Series or Obsession

IMG_2990IMG_2988IMG_2362IMG_2334DSC00399DSC00398A┬áselection of studies and variations in many media inspired by a Ewart Johns painting that I was lucky enough to buy and now own. His painting is titled “Barbara lying on a coloured blanket”. I have posted several of these works individually on this blog before but I decided to feature them as a series to see how they view collectively.

The painting by Ewart Johns hangs on the wall of my bedroom and from there it has travelled into my depths.

Butter Me Up

Introducing my new friend the butternut squash. A stunning vegetable that I have been admiring as one has appeared lately in my fruit bowl.

It has fascinated me for several days with its exquisite curves and woodlike shell. The only sane thing to do was make art of it. It is art in itself but I wanted to be a part of it and now I am.

Inspired also by Woody Allen’s affection for Cezanne’s Apples and Pears as stated in his Masterpiece Manhattan.

Many Are Called

The Call

I found this piece of black wood while doing a beach clean at Shellybanks on the South Wall in Dublin. I was very taken with it so I took it home gave it a wipe and waited for the moment of inspiration. I saw the figure in the wood and brought it out in crayon which I later touched up with acrylic paint.

It is featured in the table selfies post but I wanted to give it its own post because I think it deserves it.

The Rebel (Biro)

Day 99.

I sense the beginning of a new obsession coming on with this Artist.

You walk through a series of arches, so to speak, and then, presently, at the end of a corridor, a door opens and you see backward through time, and you feel the flow of time, and realize you are only part of a great nameless procession.
